A public meeting to present the 25-26 Colton School District budget is taking place this evening. The meeting will be held at Colton Middle School (west entrance) at 6pm. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 24, 2025 Colton School District Welcomes Dr. Anthony Buckner as Building Administrator and K-12 Student Services Coordinator Colton, OR – The Colton School District is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Anthony “Tony” Buckner as our new Elementary Principal and K-12 Student Services Coordinator as of July 1, 2025. Dr. Buckner brings to the table two decades of expertise in public school and district administration. Dr. Buckner holds an Educational Doctorate degree in School Administration and a Juris Doctor focused on Special Education. Dr. Buckner has most recently served as Director of Special Programs for the Newberg-Dundee Public Schools, where he led programs for Special Education, Section 504, Talented and Gifted (TAG), and Early Childhood Education. He has been instrumental in building lasting systems of student support, implementing mental health supports across Newberg-Dundee schools, and supervising multi-disciplinary teams including school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and certified counselors. In addition to his stellar leadership in district-level programs, Dr. Buckner also brings to us a strong background in building-level school administration. As an Assistant Principal at Newberg High School, he successfully led the Counseling, Science, and Special Education departments, and designed a school-wide discipline rubric to improve behavioral outcomes. His career reflects a unique blend of legal expertise, educational psychology, and program leadership—skills that will be essential in his new dual role at Colton. As a School Psychologist, he has worked at all levels of K-12 education, but has always held a special fondness for supporting elementary teachers with their crucial, foundational work with grade school students. He is delighted to work with the elementary staff in enhancing and maximizing the effectiveness of their academic and behavioral support programs. Superintendent Dave Kline has shared, “Dr. Buckner brings a strong depth of knowledge and a passion for creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments. We are excited to welcome him to Colton and look forward to the positive impact he will make.” Other references describe him as a calm, positive super-collaborative, out-of-the box problem-solver and servant leader. Trees are cleared we will be running normal bus routes for the PM routes after school. Due to down trees, we can not provide AM bus service to Oswalt Road or the Fernwood bus route, including Green Mountain west of Wall St.

Due to snow/freezing rain expected to arrive in the area around 10 am, we are closing schools for Thursday 2/13/25.

Road conditions have not improved so Colton Schools are closed for Thursday 2/6/25.

Colton School District is closed for Wednesday, 2/5/25 due to road conditions at higher elevations.

Our buses will follow regular routes for afternoon drop-off (no snow routes).

Monday, February 3, 2025, we will be on a 3-hour delay. Late Snow routes are as follows: Elwood meet at the school house, no bus to Unger or Baurer, Upper Highland meet at Look Road, Fernwood no service for Redhouse, Odeane, or Ramsby, no service to Hunter Road.
