Welcome to the 2018/2019 School Year

 Welcome Back!

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am excited and honored to be the new principal of Colton High School. I appreciate your flexibility and hard work that you put into this school. I am excited to start the school year off with  wonderful staff members and welcome 5 new staff to our building! I welcome and value our staff’s  positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with staff, students and our community to prepare all students to graduate from high school.

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year.   Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility.  Our new schedule balances class sizes and provides support classes/exploratory classes to meet the needs of our students. A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2018-2019 school year.

This year we will be able to support students in a variety of different ways. We have dedicated educators that will support and helps all students be successful.  Clearly, it is a year of great ambition and promise.  Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can do a thing or you think you can’t, you’re right.”  I know that we can meet all of our initiatives because we have a faculty and staff that believes in the promise of educational excellence.  We know that we have work to do, work that requires commitment, focus and collaboration and we know that we will succeed.

My hope is that through our reinvigorated Learning Community, both staff and our students will think of our schools as places where community of learners come together to do interesting consequential work.

I know that our community and staff want to make a difference in the lives of our students.  As we move forward with our reform efforts, I invite you to think about this quote that came from Emerson.  “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”  I am confident that we will make a difference in our student’s lives and see growth take place.

I hope that each of you enjoys the remaining days of summer.  I look forward to a year filled with stories of great success and great learning. Thanks again for everything you do and once again welcome back to your home away from home, Colton High School.
