Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year

Dear Colton High School students and families,                                                                                          8/15/19

 Welcome Back!

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am excited and honored to come back as the principal at Colton High School. I have appreciated the parent and community support that has gone into making this a wonderful high school for students and staff. I am excited to start the school year off with wonderful staff members and welcome 3 new staff to our building! I welcome and value our staff’s positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with staff, students and our community to prepare all students to graduate college and career ready!

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year.   Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility.  Our new schedule balances class sizes and provides support classes/exploratory classes to meet the needs of our students. A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2019-2020 school year.

This year we will be able to support students in a variety of different ways. We have dedicated educators that will support and help all students be successful.  Our staff continue to use data to help address learning needs for all of our students. “Average schools don’t inspire greatness- and greatness is what our world needs if we are going to produce world-changing learners”. (Jimmy Casas)

My hope is that through our reinvigorated Learning Community, both staff and our students will think of our schools as places where community of learners come together to do interesting consequential work.

I know that our community and staff want to make a difference in the lives of our students.  As we move forward with our reform efforts, I invite you to think about this quote that came from George Weah. “Education is a continual process, it’s like a bicycle… If you don’t pedal you don’t go forward.”

I hope that each of you enjoy the remaining days of summer.  I look forward to a year filled with stories of great success and great learning. Thanks again for everything you do and once again welcome back to your home away from home, Colton High School.

Sincerely,

Grant Hayball
