SRO on the Move!
Deputy Keen has stayed very busy since joining the staff last Fall. He begins each day making sure students are getting to school safely. He also keeps an eye on the school zones helping patrons remember to drive safely. Deputy Keen has spent time at all the schools monitoring lunch and recess. He attended Homecoming as well as other dances and Football Games. Recently he enjoyed the High School Play, “Arsenic and Old Lace” and Halloween Parade at Colton Elementary.
While building relationships with students in Colton, several students have shown interest in the “ride-a-long” program and are filling out applications to get a ride along. Deputy Keen has helped a couple of high school students get applications for being cadets and one student is looking into the FBI. He said “It’s been great! Parents and students know who he is and this makes his job easier outside of school when issues arise in the community.” He gets a lot of questions about his uniform and car. He happily answers students and shares his knowledge with them.
Deputy Keen is a great support for school administrators. He moves students in the right direction, supports community needs with DHS as well as property trespass issues and has been a supporter regarding school needs for the upcoming ODOT upgrades to the HWY 211/Wall Street cross walk.
Colton administrators plan to have Deputy Keen help with school safety drills and visit classrooms throughout the year. He will be attending High School Basketball games as well as other community activities this winter. Be sure to introduce yourself to Deputy Keen.
